Outdoor Adventures!

Another big BIG first for us! Our first hike! It was a beautiful day today! It was about 65 degrees - a perfect day to be outside. Today, we met some of our friends out on the trail for our first hike with William. We were a little unsure how he would do, but it went great! We planned on hiking a 2 mile loop which accidentally turned into an almost 3 mile loop. William slept in his carrier (thank you Kaye) the entire time. William was in a great mood when we got back to the cars so we decided to grab a sandwich and visit at Quizno's - yum! What a great day!

We got home about 3:30, in time for John to run a few errands and wash both cars. I got some time to hang out with William and clean our kitchen (it REALLY needed it!)

Those of you who are interested in our sleep times - another great night! William slept from 10pm- 6:30am (okay, okay, it was only 5:30 am because of daylight savings time)...we're pretty excited this could be for real! Bath night tonight!

Sleepy Saturday...

Well, we started the morning off right with another long sleep from our little boy. William slept from 10 until 5 am- not quite as long as yesterday, but still darn good. We're hoping he continues along this way! The weather was beautiful and we got out to walk the neighborhood. John did some work in the basement and helped around the house. We think we might (might) be ready for the preliminary inspection! Kelly continued to battle the laundry beast as Wyatt Erp still resides at our house.

Tonight, John tested out his baking soda hypothesis and made a batch of cookies and we watched some movies together. William is starting to enjoy reading books a little bit -his attention span isn't very long, but it is a start.

The fluffier cookie - unexpired baking soda?

Dr Appointment

I went for my 6 week appointment and everything checked out fine. We'll both be sad to say good bye to Dr. Ladd - she did agree to have her picture taken with our little guy today! He is looking pretty good with his big boy pants on and shoes! After the appointment, we decided to eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory rather than sit in traffic. If we had had the stroller with, it would have been nice to stroll around the mall for a few minutes as it was raining outside!

goodnight,

The Heidts

ps. thank you to auntie kaye for the information about when palm sunday is. Too bad I already forgot the date again! I think some of my brain quite working/evaporated when I was pregnant...

Technically, how long is sleeping through the night?

Today, William is 6 weeks old! To celebrate, I am going to see the OB/GYN doctor that delivered William at 3pm. Kind of funny, I was seeing her at LEAST every week before he was born - I kind of miss her! We are bringing the camera with to get a picture of William with the doctor that delivered him that hopefully doesn't include poop this time ( he pooped all over her as he was being born...that's right, I'm remembering that story for the teenage years! And I have the picture to prove it!)

William decided to celebrate by sleeping extra long. He has been going down to sleep at about 10 and sleeping to 3:30am - 4:30 am before waking up. Not bad for a newborn (about 6 hours), but last night he slept until 5:30am! We'll see if it was a fluke or the real thing in the next week or so, but I am excited. Unfortunately, I did not get to enjoy the 7+ hours of uninterrupted as I woke up cold and wet at 3:45 am and then laid there waiting for him to start crying so I could feed him and change my clothes. We'll try for a nap sometime today!

In other news, we are going to try and baptize William in Rochester at Gloria Dei after the service on Palm Sunday. The date you ask? Think about who you are asking! At least I know my own phone number now (most of the time). I'm not sure how the whole baptism thing works with people attending. Hopefully, someone will read this and feel sorry for me and e mail me with the proper etiquette for planning a baptismal ceremony. Right now, anyone who is interested in attending should let me know so I can pass on more details. That is unless you are a grandparent - then you don't have a choice!

Update

This afternoon I took William to the doctors office to get checked out - we thought there might be a problem, but there isn't. Everything is fine! We learned that William is now weighing in at 13 pounds 7.25 ounces with his diaper (wet) on. That is incredible knowing he started out at 8 pounds out of the hospital. Tomorrow he will be 6 weeks old which means he has been gaining almost a pound a week. That is a lot for our big, little guy!

goodnight,
the heidts

ps and it isn't like he has any more hair now to help him tip the scales. The hairline recedes a little every day...

Reunion?

Okay, so I got an e mail from a high school classmate with the website with information about our 10 YEAR CLASS REUNION. That is more than scary! The website has some information about some of the people I went to high school with. Just doing my part to pass things along to people. If you are a high school classmate or someone who wants to know who my high school classmates are, click the link below...

Scary...

Oops! How could I forget?

Yesterday wasn't a busy day, we were just having a lot of fun (and I admit, I took a nap...)! I am appreciating how William's day is falling more and more into a schedule. We aren't quite there yet, but I think we are getting close. When I think we have it, I'll let you know. Until then, I'm not saying what we are doing because I don't want to jinx it...

Yesterday, we went out for a walk and went to Michael's just to hang out. We both were able to grab a nice afternoon snooze and then have a great bath time with John when he got home (from the Y again!). I have to say, I thought this bath stuff would be a lot more traumatic and harder! However, William seems to enjoy/tolerate the bath time quite well. He only cries sometimes when we take him OUT of the tub and he is cold!

On todays agenda:
I am going to try and get us out and walking, a haircut appointment for me, dentist appointment for John and maybe a call to Gloria Dei to work out some more baptism details...here are some pictures of our little guy in the tub yesterday and wearing his shoes!

I am getting SO strong!

Tubby time!

My shoes DO fit!
