Just like Daddy

John was [trying to] nap on the couch downstairs. William noticed and insisted he needed to be "just like Daddy". Pillows? check. Blanket? check. On couch? check. For a short time, he wrestled with getting the blanket over himself just like John had his. He wouldn't let me help him and finally settled for it like this. Silly boy.

Swing!

This video is from two weekends ago at the park. Amelia loved! swinging!

Sweet Potatoes

Amelia tried sweet potatoes for the first time on 10/4/09! I just knew she was going to love these as they are still one of William's favorite foods:
Sweet potato boy
So Amelia's reaction surprised me. She really wasn't sure about this stuff!
Which means she ends up wearing most of it
I'm hoping it is just the temperature. They were a little on the cooler side, so I'm guessing that might be the problem...I hope.

Down for the count

Everyone but John is currently suffering around here. Nothing major, just normal wear and tear stuff. But, all at the same time gets to be a little overwhelming. Here is the run down:

1. Amelia: got shots on Thursday. Less than average crankiness, less than average napping. More than average amount of crawling and licking banned items (ie: trash cans, her brother's feet).

2. William: was jumping (or something) on Thursday morning and landed funny on his right foot. I didn't actually see what was happening, so I'm not exactly sure. But, he hasn't walked on the foot since it happened. He spent the day Thursday and Friday crawling everywhere and Saturday graduated to limping around putting his weight on the very back of his heel. We saw our doctor on Friday, who felt it was probably just tender or a soft tissue injury. We have instructions to bring him back in on Monday if it isn't better by Monday. We also have instructions to take it easy, use Motrin for pain control and ice the foot if he complains. Easier said that done.

3. Mama: typical Kelly style is suffering from overdoing the running. Both heels are now giving me some trouble - which is frustrating me to no end. We finally find a gym/workout schedule that works for everyone and...now I can't really workout. Someday I will learn moderation and working towards things slowly. For now, I am restricted from running until I am pain free for several days, advised to use ice and Motrin for pain control (per almost dr mom). Again, easier said than done.

Green Beans for the Human Bean

We tried Green Beans tonight (daddy's pick)! I was nervous because this was one of the things William flat out refused to eat. After one bite, he shut his lips and wouldn't open them again. So, I was concerned about trying these while the spoon feeding was so new. But...Amelia surprised me and gobbled them up and cried for more! I'll probably regret giving her more tomorrow when her diaper is green...

funny face
Laughing - beans are so funny!

I'm not sure if she is teething or just playing, but Amelia LOVES to bite down on the spoon so I can't get it out of her mouth.
She also loves to grab the bowl and pull it towards herself. This = messy.
Give me the bowl......Sweet Amelia!

In other news, we met with our dr today for Amelia's 6 month appointment. Amelia continues to be at the top of the charts for height, weight and head circumference. The dr is pleased with everything and told us to keep up the good work. Amelia got two shots and an oral vaccine. We'll be back in another month to finish up the remaining two shots. William got his flu vaccine at the appointment in a mist. We'll be going back for Amelia's flu shots also....

Current stats:
Height: 27.5 inches (+1 inch in 2 months)
Weight: 17lbs 14oz (+almost 1.5 pounds in 2 months)

and the doctor didn't look at William's foot. Something I'm hoping we don't regret!

6 Month Photos, The Out takes

Whenever I take the kids' pictures, it seems like there are always a few that are....not quite what I was going for. Take a look below:

All the piggys are in her mouth...

It would appear that she hasn't eaten in years and is now going to gnaw off her toes....

The expression on this one...
Keep your eye on the prize!
Those eyes! Always finding trouble!
I actually really like this picture. This is what our life is like right now. It is chaotic. The bed is never made. The kids are up to some kind of mischief (see what the innocent baby is doing?) and the adults are just trying to stay sane. But, we laugh all the time and our lives are so much richer and a thousand times more beautiful.
Say "ch-ch-ch-cheese!"Getting a sibling picture proves to be more difficult than I realized.

Grumpy Amelia, William is trying to find his Thomas train in the grass.

William! Come back here! *click*
The secret camera setup: a camping table, a 2x6? piece of scrap lumber. The lawn chair is William's addition to the mix.

The Half birthday party

I read about someone online (the internet is a dangerous place, people) who celebrated their baby's half birthday. They had some neat ideas...although we only used the cake idea. At the end of Amelia's 6 month photo shoot, I really wanted to try and get a newish family picture to post over there on the right side of your screen. Because I am tired of looking at myself in a hospital gown. I was also inspired by my cousin in law (or something like that), Kara, to try and get some pics outside....
Daddy and his baby girl

Mama and Amelia - also titled "Kelly has much to learn about outdoor lighting"
William was thrilled to be having a birthday celebration. He is a fan of anything involving cake. This is Amelia's half birthday cake. I took a round cake pan and cut the cake in half, stacked them and frosted. Not to worry, I did not throw out the other half. I just turned it into cupcakes. At William's insistence, we sang to Amelia (although we did NOT wear party hats, go get balloons, blow out candles, have presents or follow through with a few of his other requests). The half birthday girl - she did NOT eat cake. She ate birthday cereal and birthday squash.
During Amelia's photo shoot, William woke up from a nap. He actually WANTED me to take his picture. I wasn't going to argue!
My handsome big boy
I am so proud of you big boy!A serious face...I think Daddy was talking to him maybe?
