The Lost Pictures from the last week

We've been busy with low key stuff and I didn't really think I had anything new to post. Turns out there was a bunch of stuff from just a few weekends ago that I forgot about! So, let's start with our family trip to the zoo at the end of May!

Daddy & William
Checking out a snake in the Children's Zoo. This was as close as he wanted to be (fine with me!). The woman offered to help him pet it and he took one giant step back and said "No thank you, no thank you".
Will & Mia (funny how their nicknames can spell out his name....okay, not really that funny to anyone but me!) ride the frogs!
VERY uncooperative inside the hippo's mouth. I saw all the other kids take GREAT pictures inside this guys mouth. I was so excited for our turn until I realized how stubborn William was feeling that day!
Petting the goats in the petting zoo. This was as close as he wanted to get - again, fine by me!
The animals Amelia looked at: a ladybug and a cardinal from her baby gym mat.
After dinner, we decided to try out a family game: Candyland!
Amelia was too busy working out to play with us it looks like. This is about as close as we were going to get to playing this game. While he has all the necessary intellectual skills (knows colors, can count, etc) he is lacking in the patience and taking turns skills. So, we'll try this one again in another month. We did get a few rousing rounds of Memory played together though!

Father Daughter Dance

I love watching the relationship between John and his daughter grow. Nothing is more special than a bond a little girl has with her daddy. Right Daddio? I caught these two dancing away in the kitchen after tucking in William.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yes! It is true! My daddy is 30!

John and the kids. William only has eyes for cake. Nothing will get him to look at me. He was so excited about having birthday cake! He took one look at the cake and candles and demanded: BIRTHDAY HATS! So, we dug out the birthday hats and had ourselves a real party!

Blowing out the candles - holding William back

It appears that my blogger is posting on Pacific time. So, when I posted at precisely midnight on June 10, it was time stamped at 10pm on June 9th.

Grandma Broke a Diaper

And, now for more about this big boy!

1. He is full on into mimicking us all the time. Here he is whistling with Daddy after dinner:

2. And copying Grandpa's facial expressions (and laughing his head off). This video is from before Memorial Day weekend.

3. This one is hard to hear in the video because I wasn't close enough to him. But, sometimes that is the way things go when you are feeding a baby girl. But, the way he says scissors melts me into a huge puddle on the floor with the cuteness of it all. The unfortunate thing is he has now corrected himself and doesn't pronounce it "lizzars" anymore. Sadness all around.

4. Grandma broke a diaper
-Explanation: In February, Grandma and Grandpa were here to celebrate my birthday. My mom took pity on my poor hugely pregnant self and gave William a bath one night (Thanks Ma!) While she was getting him dressed, the tape on his diaper broke off. It was no big deal. We got a different diaper moved on. No one was upset and it was really not a big deal. At almost every single diaper change, he reports to me conversationally, "Grandma broke a diaper". So, for at least 4 diaper changes a day for the last 3 months, I have heard about Grandma breaking the diaper. The story never changes, it doesn't get longer or shorter. Grandma broke the diaper and that's it.

5. Fingersnails
-Explanation: This is what William calls the hard growths at the end of your fingers. You know, the part you cut periodically.

Speaking of which, I don't know if he is going through a growth spurt or what, but his are growing like CRAZY. I am probably cutting them every 4 days. Crazy.

6. I busy Mama, busy.
-Reported to me after spinning himself around the room in circles and falling down.

Two Month Doctor Appointment

On Monday, we had our 2 month well child visit with our pediatrician. It is always exciting to see how much our baby has grown up in actual hard numbers (and yes, I have a sad, sad life when this is big excitement). As you can see by the number of chins Amelia is sporting, things are going well:
If you are Amelia's grandparent, I expect you to click on these graphs and memorize them. Or if you are a nerd. Otherwise it isn't that interesting.

She has also grown in length as we have noticed around the house here. Amelia is easily fitting into most of her 6 month outfits that are one piece. She is a loooooooooooooooooooooong baby! Her 3-6 month clothing is on it's way out, which is bittersweet. I'm glad she is growing, but sad that she is already so big! We're finding the nice part about having a baby girl is the dresses last a little longer than the boy clothes. Dresses just get shorter and most come with diaper covers to preserve her dignity.

Again, if you are a grandparent, you are required to memorize this. Otherwise you are free to continue on.

So the numbers round up to show that Amelia is off the charts in height and at the top of the chart for weight. You wouldn't expect any less from a Heidt, would you? Her head size is also at the top of the chart which is nice because she is proportional. The doctor actually stopped and double checked our numbers to make sure they were correct and then showed us Amelia's growth chart in the office. She is one tall girl! I am a little proud because after talking about how big she is, the doctor wanted to know how much formula I am supplementing with. The answer to that question? NONE. And I am producing some extra as well because we are finding ourselves wearing Amelia's meals a LOT of the time now. The doctor was very impressed by the number of times Amelia spit up everywhere during our short 5 minute chat (4 times, all over the floor). At the end of the appointment, Amelia got her first shots ever. Poor baby was all smiles and cooing for the nurses which quickly turned into crying without any noise. After she caught her breath, her shrieks caused both nurses to leave the room with great haste. Amelia has been very fussy and clingy since her shots. She ran a fever that evening and into the next day which explains the delay in posting here and why there aren't any pictures. It is now almost midnight on 6/9 and I think I have had all of 5 minutes to really sit down and think today.

Summary:
Weight: 13lbs 0 oz (a gain of 4.5 pounds in 2 months)
Length: 25.25 inches (a gain of 4.25 inches since birth)

AMAZING!

knock knock

Is the noise we woke up to this morning. William got himself up and out of bed this morning and politely knocked on our door to tell us he was awake. What a sweet way to wake up!

P is for Patience

or Potty Training. Our first go this week hasn't brought much success. I find myself questioning whether or not we're doing the right thing. So, I'm opening it up. Did you read a book that helped? Have a magic trick? Have a horrible horror story to make me laugh? Tips? Anything? E mail me or leave comments....
